93-Year-Old Merrimac Man Is Fatally Struck While Riding Tricycle

MERRIMAC, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) — Merrimac Police are investigating after a man was fatally struck while riding a tricycle on Saturday.

Just after 5 p.m., Merrimac Police got reports of a man on a tricycle that was hit near his home on Bartlett Street. Police later identified the man as 93-year-old Robert Whitcomb of Merrimac.

Whitcomb was taken to Portsmouth Hospital where he later died from his injuries, police said.

The car that hit Whitcomb was being operated by a minor that stayed on the scene and worked with police, officials said.

Merrimac Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are investigating.

No other information is known at this time.
