SHREWSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — You can now take a piece of the Christmas Tree Shops home with you.

When the Massachusetts based Christmas Tree Shops went out of business last year, many New Englanders were sad to see it go. Now, items from a location in Shrewsbury are being auctioned off.

Grafe Auction is giving the highest bigger a chance to take home shelves, safes, tables, refrigerators, ladders, and more.

John Schultz, with Grafe Auction, told WBZ's Nichole Davis auctioning off items is a more sustainable way to close stores.

"It does divert [items] from the trash stream and at the end of the auction, for the most part, you see almost every item, like 99% of the items are going to sell," said Schultz.

While Christmas Tree Shops retail items aren't being auctioned off, Schultz said it's a great opportunity for small businesses to get items at a low price for their own store.

"There's going to be consumers that say 'hey I want a piece of that history from that store that is no more' or in this case Christmas Tree Shops, they are no more," he said.

The auction starts on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
