FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft lent the team plane to the University of Virginia football players so they could attend their teammates' funerals after three students were shot and killed on November 13, a New England Patriots spokesperson told WBZ NewsRadio.
UVA football players and staff will use the Patriots' plane to travel to three funerals in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida, paid for by Kraft. Devin Chandler of Huntersville, North Carolina, Lavel Davis Jr. of Dorchester, South Carolina, and D’Sean Perry of Miami, Florida were killed after another UVA student allegedly opened fire on a charter bus after a school field trip. Two other students were injured in the shooting but have since been discharged.

The Patriots were not going to be using the plane this weekend and without air travel to take the students, attending all three funerals would be difficult.
Kraft has been generous with the Patriots' plane in the past, lending it to others in need. In 2020, the plane took a trip to China to pick up respirator masks for healthcare workers in the Northeast. Just last year, the plane flew over 70 vaccinated healthcare "heroes" to the Super Bowl.
