BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Pine Street Inn is serving thousands of Thanksgiving meals to the homeless again this year.
The festivities started Thursday morning, when Boston Bruins Defenseman Charlie McAvoy dropped off 50 Thanksgiving pies.
Elected officials Mayor Michelle Wu, City Council President Ed Flynn, Representative John Moran, and City Councilor-Elect John FitzGerald arrived at Pine Street Inn to help carve the turkey.

This year, Pine Street Inn will be serving close to 2,000 Thanksgiving meals. On the menu, there are 120 turkeys, 280 pounds of cranberry sauce, 140 pounds of stuffing, more than 500 pounds mixed vegetables, 1,000 pounds of mashed potatoes, 50 gallon of gravy, 500 pounds of fruit salad, 56 gallons of cider, and more.
There will also be more than a thousand pies, both mini and whole, on the menu this year.
