BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston has a SantaCon, so why not have a SatanCon? The Satanic Temple, a Salem based organization, announced SatanCon will be coming to downtown Boston April 28-30 in 2023.

The theme of the 2023 conference is "Hexennacht in Boston," based on the German holiday also known as Witches Night. The holiday takes place in April in Germany and is similar to Halloween in the United States.

SatanCon will have evening entertainment for members and attendees as well as a satanic marketplace for the public to enjoy. The conference will also hold lectures and panels presented by The Satanic Temple's campaigns and congregations for conference-goers. TST will speak about members' reproductive rights at the event, as they plan to protect their members' right to abortion.

"TST stands alone because we are the only entity that can assert a religious liberty claim that terminating a pregnancy is a central part of a religious ritual that encourages self-empowerment and affirms bodily autonomy," The Satanic Temple said on their website.

The organization states that satanic abortions are protected by religious liberty laws saying, "In accordance with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), first trimester abortions are now exempt from unnecessary regulations for all individuals practicing The Satanic Temple's religious abortion ritual."

The Satanic Temple's mission is to "encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits."

In February 2022, SatanCon was held in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference had a large variety of events scheduled including, satanic Jeopardy, a satanic book club, a talk on how to start a satanic TV network, and many more.
