WESTWOOD, MA (WBZ-AM) The company Lifetime Athletic is banning cable news stations like MSNBC, FOX News Channel and CNN from the large televisions displayed in their 130 locations nationwide.

They say it member feedback that prompted the ban.

The assistant member services manager at Lifetime's Westwood facility, Zach Delgaizo, says a lot of members have been complaining about polarizing views and politically charged content on cable stations.

“A lot of people that visit lifetime as a ‘hey i’m going there for an hour or two hours, go to the cafe, bring their kids in and just have a happy, healthy experience’ and we just feel like the news right now is not aligning with that,” Delgazio said.

Member William Ward agrees with lifetime's decision.

“I think they’re doing what's best for the gym and their culture at the gym,” Ward said.

But Brian Washington calls the ban on cable news unnecessary.

“You pick and choose what you wanna look at and see anyways,” he said. “I personally don't believe we don't need to be policed.”
