Nassar Sentencing To Go Into Next Week

LANCING, MI (WBZ-AM/24/7 News Source) -- The disgraced former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar will have to wait until next week to be sentenced.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina has extended the sentencing hearing due to the number of sexual assault victims who still want to speak in court.

On Thursday, Nassar asked to stop hearing from the survivors of his abuse.  Aquilina told him nothing he was hearing is as harsh as what his victims endured.

More than 100 have already addressed the court, with Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney doing so in a letter.

Nassar has already been sentenced to 60 years in prison for child pornography by a federal judge in Grand Rapids.

On Friday Needham's Aly Raisman to Dr Larry Nasser "this group of women you so heartlessly abused over such a long period of time are now a force and you are nothing"

USA Gymnastics will no longer train gymnasts at the well-known Karolyi Ranch in Texas, where some athletes were molested by Nassar.  The organization announced the move Thursday , days after gymnast Simone Biles revealed that she couldn't bear the thought of training at the Huntsville facility again.

Biles wrote on social media that "it breaks her heart" that she'd have to continue training at the same facility she was abused at, as she works toward her dream of competing in the 2020 Olympics.

A statement says the organization has terminated the agreement with the facility and alternative sites are being explored to host training activities until a permanent location is found.
