WATCH: Tom Brady, Gov. Baker Get Buzz Cuts For Charity

QUINCY (WBZ-AM) -- New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker were among those who got their heads shaved Thursday, at an event helping Granite Telecommunications raise millions for cancer research.

"It's my first time, and I hope it's not my last," Brady told the crowd gathered at Granite's Quincy headquarters.

The "Saving By Shaving" event helped Granite raise $6,500,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and pancreatic cancer research.

It was the fourth year Gov. Baker participated in the annual event.

"You know what's going through my mind as I'm sitting there next to Tom Brady getting my head shaved?" Gov. Baker said. "There's not one person in this room who's even paying one scant bit of attention to me because Tom Brady is sitting next to me getting his head shaved."

Baker was happy Brady participated.

"Look, I think it's great that he came out," Baker said. "He probably gets 100 of these kinds of requests a month, and for him to come out here and literally do something that will certainly be a change for him ... It's a great statement about him, as well as a great statement about how much people appreciate the chance to do this on behalf of such a great cause."

And he was surprised Brady was going with a new look.

"One of the things I said to him was, have you told your kids yet that you're doing this today? He said, 'Actually, no.'"
