MBTA To Offer Early Morning Service

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – Metro Boston residents who need to be at work at the crack of dawn will have more bus options starting next week.

The MBTA is starting several bus routes 20 minutes --or more-- earlier in the morning.

The MBTA deputy chief operating officer Jessica Casey this could help not only the early shift workers but those who head in later who may not faces such crowded buses.

“We’re really excited we have three routes that hit Dudley, Roxbury Mattapan, Airport and South Boston that will start service between 3 and 4 o’clock in the morning In addition to that we have 33 routes that are going to start before 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock in the morning and a number of trips that start before 5 or 6 a.m. “Casey said.

This is an experiment that will last about a year and comes just weeks before the t expands silver line service into Chelsea.
