Lawyers Asking Gaming Commission to Remove Wynn From Licence

Wynn Casino Boston Harbor

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) ---The State Gaming Commission will hold a hearing within three weeks to determine if Steve Wynn will remain a "qualifier" for the casino project his former company is building in Everett.

Commission Executive Director Ed Bedrosian told commissioners, the hearing will not affect the Commission's own investigation of Wynn following accusations of alleged sexual misconduct.

" The purpose of  the hearing is limit to responding to the request from Steve Wynn and Wynn Limited Wynn Mass LLC as to whether Steve Wynn is a qualifier under Chapter 23K...so the commissions decision will be limited to responding to that request." Bedrosian said.

Attorneys for Wynn asked that he be removed as a "qualifier."

Bedrosian said this is usually a routine matter, but he recommended a public hearing be held because of the "unique position" Wynn  held with the company.

In other business, Commissioners on April 26th will tour the site in Springfield where MGM is building a casino in that city.

Bedrosian says work is progressing steadily there, with no red flags.
