State Gaming Commission To Decide Fate Of Wynn Casino Name

Wynn Casino Boston Harbor

BOSTON, MA(WBZ-AM) -- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission will hold a hearing Friday  regarding whether Steve Wynn's name should be removed from the gaming license for the new Everett casino.

It’s been a couple months since Wynn stepped down as CEO from Wynn Resorts amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Since then, the company has asked that his name be removed from the gaming license for "Wynn Boston Harbor", the $2.5 billion dollar project well underway in Everett is slated to open next year.

Reportedly Steve Wynn sold stock in his company, and has backed away from his day-to-day involvement.

Perhaps the most interesting about the hearing is the fact that the new CEO for Wynn Resorts, Matt Maddox, is expected to testify.

Part of what the commission wants to determine if Steve Wynn no longer has influence over the new casino resort and commissioners may also want to know how Wynn Resorts, as a company, has responded to Wynn's alleged misconduct.

A decision on whether his name should be removed from the local gaming license is not expected Friday.
