Simmons, Emmanuel College Placed On Lockdown Due To Reports Of Gunfire

BOSTON (AP) - Several colleges and schools in Boston had been on lockdown due to reports of gunfire.

Students at Simmons University, Emmanuel College and the private Winsor School, with middle and high school students, and others were told to shelter in place on Thursday afternoon.

Boston police Sgt. John Boyle said officers responded to a call for shots fired near Simmons' campus. Nothing was found. 

The lockdowns were lifted just after 3 p.m.Simmons said it has "returned to normal activities."
