BOSTON (WBZ-AM) — Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents have been calling out sick at major airports across the country. Due to the partial government shutdown, TSA employees have been working without pay.
At John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, as many as 170 employees have called out sick each day this week.
In Texas, at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, call outs have increased as much as 300 percent.
Local TSA Union leader David Boucher told ABC this spike has yet to been seen at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
“We are required to work regardless because the TSA mission, of course, is to get passengers on planes,” Boucher said. “So, we have to continue doing that.”
