FALMOUTH, MA (WBZ-AM) — After battling a seemingly endless series of lawsuits from angry residents, the Falmouth Board of Selectman has voted to tear down a couple wind turbines put up nearly a decade ago.
The series of lawsuits came from residents citing complaints about noise and vibration from the wind turbines.
Resident Daniel Shearer tells WBZ NewsRadio that it's too bad:
“It would have brought the town a lot of money, it would have run the schools and the power plans and it's the future, “ Shearer said.
Shearer says what’s happened in his town could have a chilling effect future for wind turbines across the cape including the might be planned miles off the coast of Martha's Vineyard ocean-based wind farms.
"You call other communities here, they are not putting windmills here," he said "they get voted down automatically."
