BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Boston arrested three women early Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting a man near a convenience store.
Authorities say when they got to the scene, the women were kicking and punching a man on ground. They then stopped when they saw the officers.
The suspects have been identified as Jenna Gonzalez, of East Boston, Audrina May Hebert, of Malden, and Brianna Romero, of Malden.
The victim says he asked one of the women for a cigarette before they started attacking him, with one of them grabbing his cell phone.
The suspects said the man had aggressively approached them, asking for his cell phone. They said they didn't have his phone and then attacked him.
According to police, one of the women did admit to taking the victim's phone.
Clerks from a nearby convenience store on Tremont Street said the women had been fighting and harassing people passing by. The employees said the women had also been loitering at the store, and returned several times after being asked to leave. They allegedly threw merchandise and assaulted the clerks when they returned.
The clerks also said that the suspects assaulted another woman when they left the store.
Gonzalez, Hebert, and Romero are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
Police say they also found Romero with a substance they believed to be cocaine.
