BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — One former Patriots' coach with very close ties to Tom Brady shared a recent text exchange he had with the six-time Super Bowl champion.
Charlie Weis, who was New England's Offensive Coordinator from 2000-04 remains close friends with "Tommy" and also currently co-hosts Sirius XM NFL Radio's "Opening Drive" program where he talked about his most recent interaction with Brady.
ESPN's Mike Reiss wrote about it in his weekly "Quick hits and thoughts" regarding the Patriots and the NFL column, which he publishes every Sunday.
Weis has remained close with Brady, and in response to rampant speculation on Brady's future, he relayed the following on Thursday's show: "I do have one bit of scoop for us. I've been texting with Tommy. I don't [usually] pass along these conversations, but one thing he told me -- 'Nobody knows anything. So anyone who is telling you they know, they don't know.' I'm not going through any other part of the conversation [but] I followed up and he said, 'Clean it up.' So I'm cleaning it up."
Weis's remarks fall in line with what we've heard from the quarterback himself, that even he is unsure as of right now where he will be playing football this season. When Brady appeared on Instagram live with Dana White last week, he stressed patience, and that he doesn't know what the future holds.
When it comes to contract negotiations with the Patriots, it will be completely between Brady's camp and Bill Belichick, meaning team owner Robert Kraft will not be getting involved, according to NBC Sports Boston Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran.
The insider dismisses the notion that many people believe where if it comes to the point that Brady is truly ready to leave from the team, Kraft will swoop in and save the day, making sure the signal caller stays in New England.
Curran writes: "we confirmed this week what we were told a month ago: that if it’s a chasm – and real negotiations have yet to begin – Kraft will not intercede despite his long-stated preference that Brady retires a Patriot." Later adding that the future of the franchise is in Bill Belichick's hands.
Brady himself has not been quiet on social media despite supposedly being on vacation with his family, the QB tweet out a heart emoji, quote tweeting Antonio Brown, who tweeted "Anger and ego kicked my ass for about 6 months I forgot about hard work and grace has success took a shot yet !"
This comes after the reports last week from ESPN that the two have been in touch and Brady wants Brown to sign wherever he does so the two can play together again.
