Nightside with Dan Rea - Rundown for June 5, 2020

Overcompensating? Three women were chastised for cleaning Black Lives Matter graffiti off a federal building and were told that was not a good use of their "white privilege." A Caucasian woman was made to kneel in front of a camera crew to apologize for white privilege. And a movement is afoot to "defund police", the idea being to eliminate funds for policing and redirect that money to community initiatives. While meaningful change is needed to address police brutality and systemic racism in the U.S., are any of the above actions helpful?

Biden vs. Trump. Former Vice-President Biden says 10 to 15 percent of Americans are not good people. While President Trump announced today that hopefully George Floyd, the black man who was killed when a Minneapolis police officer deliberately kneel-ed on his neck, is looking down saying it’s a great day for him and the country because the job numbers have risen. Which of these two candidates are you supporting for president?

Hydroxychloroquine is Good After All! A study claiming that the use of the antimalarial hydroxychloroquine to treat Coronavirus leads to an increased risk of death, has been retracted by its publisher. The Lancet's statement reads we “can no longer vouch for the veracity of the primary data sources.” The former Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet, joins Dan to talk about this turn around.
