HUDSON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The last airworthy fighter plane to survive “a date which will live in infamy,” is getting a new home at the American Heritage Museum.
The Curtiss P40B Warhawk is the only flying fighter plane left that outlasted the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
The plane happened to be in a hangar for repairs on that fateful day, and survived the attack. The Warhawk later crashed on a routine training flight, killing its pilot – but was later found and restored.
The Heritage Museum is currently displaying the fighter in its 67,000-foot space.
