BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Two doctors at Brigham and Women's Hospital are not only saving lives locally, but they're trying to save lives on the other side of the world.

Oncology surgeon and Ukrainian native Dr. Nelya Melnitchouk teamed up with Dr. Eric Goralnick, a passionate promoter of the Stop the Bleed Program. Together they recorded a video intended to help teach Ukrainians how to respond to traumatic injuries, as the Russian invasion continues.

The campaign is funded by the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation.

The video includes Ukrainian-language narration by Melnitchouk and on-camera demonstrations by Goralnick, who uses a mannequin to demonstrate how to apply pressure on a wound, pack material into the opening and apply a tourniquet to stanch the bleeding.

The doctors say they are also working to get more educational materials and medical supplies to the people of Ukraine.
