Report: Average Rents In Boston Are The Highest They've Ever Been

BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Rent in the city of Boston is higher than it's ever been, according to a new report from Rent.com.

According to their data, the average cost of a studio in Boston is $3,056, which is up 16 percent from last year. A one bedroom averages $3,936, which is up 14 percent, and a two bedroom is $4,799, which is up 6 percent.

The report also looked at specific neighborhoods. Rent in the West End saw the highest jump annually, increasing by 53 percent, with a studio apartment now averaging $3,242 per month. However, a couple of neighborhoods saw a decrease in average rent, including the Back Bay with -18 percent.

Looking outside the city of Boston, Waltham saw a whopping 136 percent increase in average rent prices. A studio apartment is now $2,827, which is more than places like Cambridge and Newton.
