WAKEFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's back! The annual Wakefield April Vacation Carnival has reopened for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, which started on Tuesday, April 19, is being held at Galvin Middle School It is open Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m

"Feels normal again, kids are just running around and it's a sunny day. Parents are spending a boat load of money. Everything feels right in the world," Elizabeth Curran, a mom of three, said. "Fun seeing the kids out here, and the best part is it's a donation for the Wakefield 4th of July Parade, which is an awesome parade that the town puts on. So this is the fundraiser for that."

The carnival features games, rides, and as well as typical carnival food.

"It's really fun 'cause this whole school vacation I'm just staying home, not really going anywhere," one student said. "So, it's fun that's there's actually something to do."

Wakefield Elementary School PTA is still seeking volunteers for the event.

Wrist bands for unlimited rides are $30, and are good for either a 4 or 5 hour time slot depending on the day.
