BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - It's the first time in 12 years, the Boston Celtics are back in the NBA Finals. Boston Police now out with a warning for those looking to buy tickets for any of the games between the Celtics and the Golden State Warriors.

Police encouraged fans to buy tickets only from reliable sources like authorized ticketing agencies and official vendors.

"Fans who purchase tickets from a secondary source are taking a chance and do so at the buyer's own risk." Police said.

Earlier this month, MBTA Police issued a warning about a scam involving counterfeit tickets. They say the "seller" will arrange to meet the buyer at various MBTA stations, conduct the sale and quickly vanish within the crowds. By the time the buyer realizes they are holding counterfeit tickets, the "seller" is long gone.

If anyone has any information about the selling of counterfeit tickets, Boston Police would like to hear from you. Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously may do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463). Individuals wishing to provide information anonymously are reminded that the Boston Police Department is only interested in the information you provide, not who you are.
