WATERTOWN (WBZNewsRadio) - It'll be a very merry Christmas for a Watertown woman and a dog named Koke.
Their love-story began during a recent trip to visit family in Israel when the woman found the dog and her newborn puppies on the side of the road. It was love at first sight. She wanted to bring the dog home, but ran into some issues.
A shelter in Bethlehem was able to take care of Koke and reached out to Helaine Block, from the Sudbury-based non-profit Kobe Henro.
"She fell in love, she couldn't get him home, getting paperwork and everything in that short time period." Block said. "So Koke was looking for a person to fly, an escort I guess, and that's my daughter."
Block's daughter, Samantha is currently studying in Israel and is scheduled to bring the dog back to Boston on Christmas morning.
Block said they're always looking for escorts and the process is easy. Escorts simply go through security and pick up the animal along with their checked luggage at the end of their flight, what's more, she said, you help to save a life.
