Dracut Schools Resource Officer Resigns After Alleged Inappropriate Conduct

DRACUT, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A school resource officer has officially resigned from his position as patrol officer, following allegations of inappropriate contact with an 18-year-old student.

Dracut Police Chief Peter Bartlett said Sunny Nguyen submitted his resignation, effective today, Wednesday, July 19.

The former resource officer has been on paid administrative leave since Monday, when officials announced their investigation into Nguyen.

Nguyen had been with the DPD working as a school resource officer since 2019. Before that, he had roles in the Middlesex Sheriff's Office, Lowell General Hospital, and HealthAlliance Hospital.

An investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
