BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - It's that time of year again, the sun is shining and the off-road vehicles have begun to appear on the streets of Boston.

Historically the police department has seen a major increase in activity for these vehicles in the summer months, and this year is no different. Police say dirt bikes, ATVS, mopeds and other motorized scooters are being driven around the city, sometimes in a reckless and irresponsible manner. What's more, police said many of these vehicles are previously reported stolen.

After receiving a number of complaint during a City of Boston Problem Property Task Force meeting, Boston Police seized more than a dozen unregistered off-road vehicles in the area of 12 East Street.

Anyone with any information in connection to illegal operation or storage of these recreational vehicles is encouraged to call the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1(800) 494-TIPS
