ERVING, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A bear cub is on the road to recovery after being rescued on Route 2 in Erving.

On the evening of July 27th, Officer Bryant and Sergeant Pacios responded for a call for the injured animal on the side of the road. When they arrived, the pair was met with a very protective mama bear, clearly concerned for her cub. The small cub had a significant leg injury.

Authorities were able to secure the cub and turn it over the MASS Wildlife, who brought the animal to Tufts Animal Hospital in Grafton.

Once the cub has recovered, the small animal will be brought to a rehabilitation center in New Hampshire.
