BURLINGTON, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A bouncing baby boy and his mother are doing well after the woman went into labor on her way to the hospital.

The Burlington Fire Department responded to the side of Route 128 during Thursday morning's busy commute and found the woman and the newborn in the car. The woman's husband was behind the wheel, when they realized their new bundle of joy simply wasn't going to wait until they arrived at the hospital.

"The family did the right thing by calling 911, our firefighter paramedics are highly trained first responders with advanced medical skills that are critical in these situations," said Fire Chief Andrew Connerty. "All of us at Burlington Fire are glad that this mother and her baby are doing well, and we are happy we were able to help them during this experience. We wish them a healthy and happy future."
