CHELMSFORD, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A collection of mosquitos from Chelmsford tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) this week, prompting spraying in the community.

The Chelmsford Board of Health said spraying will begin Thursday evening, August 17th, at 8:00 p.m. in the affected areas. That area consists of roughly 80 Streets, all lodged between Routes 3 and 4, and I-495.

Officials will be using Zenivex E4, a mosquito-killing chemical that has "an extremely low toxicity to mammals."

No human cases of WNV have been detected in Massachusetts this year, however there have been 47 mosquitos across the state that have tested positive.

Residents can call CMMCP at 508-393-3055 with any questions or concerns or the Chelmsford Health Department at 978-250-5241.
