CHANDLERS PURCHASE, N.H. (WBZNewsRadio) - An experienced hiker from Framingham is safe and sound after needing to be rescued from the summit of Mt. Eisenhower earlier this week.

First responders from the North County area joined forces after getting the call for help around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16th. 53-year-old Margaret Dabrush had been hiking with her daughter along the Crawford Path, not far from the summit, when she took a tumble. Her leg slammed into a rock, leaving her unable to walk. Her daughter, immediately tried calling for help but was unable to get through due to poor cell service.

Several other hikers passed the pair, including an off-duty paramedic, who was able to help Dabrush and call for help.

A rescue party of nearly three dozen, set out around 4:30 p.m., hiking alone the Edmonds Path trail. Two hours later, the group had found Dabrush and began the trek down the mountain, carrying the women in a litter.

Around 10 p.m. Dabrush had made it to the trailhead, where her husband was waiting. She was taken to the Littleton Regional Hospital for evaluation.

New Hampshire Fish and Game said Dabrush was an experienced hiker and had planned accordingly.

"Dabrush was an experienced hiker who carried lots of good gear and had taken the time to plan a multi-day trip." NH Fish and Game said. "Prior to her hike, she had checked the weather, established contingency plans, and left an itinerary with her husband. Dabrush had also purchased a HikeSafe card prior to her trip, which is voluntary hiker insurance that helps cover the cost of search and rescue operations within the state. Additionally, Dabrush was very thankful for the help that she received and the compassion given to her by the dozens of volunteers who showed up and worked tirelessly on her behalf."
