Berklee College of Music Alumni Nominated for 2023 Latin Grammy Awards

BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Berklee College of Music is celebrating after 19 alumni earn Latin Grammy nominations for performing songwriting, production, engineering and mixing, in a number of categories including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Tropical Song, and Best Instrumental Album.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 16th and will be broadcast from Sevilla, Spain.

Juan Luis Geurra graduated in 1982 after studying jazz composition at Berklee. This year, the Dominican native has been nominated for a trio of awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Tropical Song for "Si Tú Me Quieres."

Miguel Zenón has been nominated for his 7th Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album. Zenón graduated in 1998 and is a visiting artist this academic year at Berklee.

Lewis Pickett B.M. has been nominated in a trio of categories for his work as a mixer on the songs “Carretera y Manta,” “Correcaminos," and on the album La Cu4rta Hoja, which is up for Album of the Year.

Meantime Boston Conservatory at Berklee alumnus Kristhyan Benitez G.P.D. '10, A.D. '15 is up for the Best Classical Album for his new project, Afro-Cuban Dances. Benitez won a Latin Grammy back in 2021.
