BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - Military members, veterans and their families will be front and center as The Boston Bruins take the ice this evening against the New York Islanders at TD Garden. It's part of the team's annual Military Appreciation Night.

Players including John Beecher, Patrick Brown, Brandon Carldo, Charlie Coyle, Derek Forbot, Trent Frederic, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie McAvoy, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jeremy Swayman and James van Reimsedyk spent more than $24,000 on tickets for those being honored as part of tonight's game. Tickets for veterans and their families were also donated by season ticket holders.

During the game, the team will recognize Captain Michael Chadwick, an active-duty Captain in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. The Harvard native was deployed in the summer of 2021 with the First Battalion, 101st Field Artillery Regiment to Afghanistan. Then in September of the same year, he re-missioned to Iraq.

Fans who attend tonight's game will get the chance to fill out special "I Salute" cards, which will be presented during a "moment of recognition" in the second period. After the game, the Boston Bruins Foundation will be auctioning off team-issued military jerseys, signed by current Bruins players.

That auction will run through Thursday, November 16th. To take part, simply text "76278" to place a bid.

Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
