BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Bruins left wing Milan Lucic appeared virtually for a scheduled status hearing Friday morning to face assault and battery charges for an alleged assault.

Lucic will appear in court for a jury trial next month. Lucic has been charged with assault and battery on a family member after allegedly dragging his wife by the hair last November during an argument.

Milan’s wife claimed that the assault occurred when he returned to their North End apartment intoxicated and when he couldn’t find his cell phone, began yelling at her demanding the phone.

The Bruins have currently placed the 6’3 forward on a leave of absence.

Lucic is currently enrolled in the NHL Players Assistance Program, which helps players deal with substance abuse and mental health issues.

His next court date is set for February 16.
