FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — This year’s municipal elections in Foxborough will feature a younger candidate on the ballot, a teenager. 18-year-old Nathan Urman has declared that he will be taking out papers to run for office in the Foxborough town elections on May 6 of this year. WBZ’s Kim Tunnicliffe caught up with Urman and asked him why he wants to participate in the local election process.
“It’s been great I get to see the inside scoop of what the school committee does as well as make sure students have a voice and everyone is heard”, said Urman.
Urman is also very active at the High School where he serves as Class President, Football Captain and Student Council President. He always hears from local politicians that it is time for the next generation to “step up” which is also why he is running.
“It’s not unheard of... there are plenty of people who have stepped up and taken such a powerful role because their constituents feel that they are the best person to do that job”.
If elected, one of Erman’s top priorities if he is elected to the school committee is the budget.
“Especially in the economic times we have now the budget is always an important part of the town’s budget and it’s important that we get it right so that it helps everybody out”.
Urman feels that his experience as school committee student rep, football captain, class president and student council president make him qualified for the position.
