BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A silent auction in the West End kicks off Monday night to provide for a family struggling with a diagnosis for a rare brain cancer.

"A Night For Heather" is being held at the West End Johnnies as a tribute to Heather Walker, a mother who lives with Glioblastoma, a brain cancer that has approximately 14,000 cases diagnosed each year in the United States, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Walker recently earned the Heroes Among Us award in March from the Boston Celtics, where she has worked as Vice President of Public Relations for 15 years, a spokesperson for the event said.

Some of the items being auctioned off, West End Johnnies says, include Boston Celtics playoff tickets, an official jersey signed by Jayson Tatum, and the Boston Red Sox Ultimate Experience, which includes seats, batting practice, and a signed item by one of the players on the team.

The event will also have music, complimentary appetizers, and a cash bar for those who donate to the family fund.

According to a spokesperson for the event, Walker has been fundraising with Dana Farber's "Heather Walker Glioblastoma Fund" generating more than $300,000 in addition to her "Move4Heather" challenges, which motivate people to check off their bucket list items and donate. According to Move4Heather's Facebook, donated dollars go to clinical trials and the expediting of immunotherapy treatments.

Now her peers hope to do the same for her, as a GoFundMe page created by Soosie Lazenby of Marblehead says that funds raised there will go directly to the Walker family, giving them the financial strength to conquer her diagnosis.
