Worcester police said they were called to the couple’s home shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Monday and while their death was not suspicious, the cause is still unknown.

While authorities are still investigating, reports have surfaced that Witt’s parents had been experiencing problems with their furnace and were using a space heater. Worcester Fire Deputy Chief Adam Roche told the Telegram that firefighters checked the air quality inside the home, but did not find presence of any noxious gases.

"I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable," Witt wrote to the Telegram. "I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss."

Witt was born in Worcester and has one brother, named Ian. She has made notable appearances in multiple films and television series including “Orange Is the New Black,” “Nashville,” “Twin Peaks,” “The Walking Dead,” "Two Weeks Notice," "88 Minutes" and “Mr. Holland’s Opus.”
