Apparent Homicide Under Investigation In Weymouth

WEYMOUTH Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —  Police in Weymouth along with Massachusetts State Police are investigating an apparent homicide after a woman was found dead in her home on Monday.

The resident has been identified as Christine Ruth Mello of Lake Street.

“Ms. Mello had recently been reported as missing,” Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said. “We are investigating this as an apparent homicide. Weymouth detectives and State Police assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office have also been assisted by Crime Scene Services and other specialized sections of the State Police,” Morrissey added.

According to authorities, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Tuesday morning.

Initial investigations suggest that Mello was deceased for several days before she was discovered.  

Weymouth Police Chief Richard Fuller said that “the information we have at this time, including the apparent passage of time, includes no indication of any ongoing danger to the community.”
