Auburn Dog Reunited With Owner After Going Missing For 17 Days

AUBURN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A dog is back at its Auburn home after going missing for 17 days.

Gwen, the Great Pyrenees, went missing on Feb. 6 about a week after being adopted. Her owner, Cindy Kelson, was taking Gwen for a walk down the driveway she when she was spooked by a noise and took off.

Local animal control and Missing Dogs of Massachusetts helped Kelson track down Gwen after the dog was spotted many times throughout the neighborhood.

Seventeen days later, Gwen was successfully caught using a no-harm trap and a webcam with the help of some tasty bait.

“Pieces of a cheeseburger from McDonald’s in there,” Kelson said.

Gwen is now recovering at home after two weeks in the snow. She was dehydrated and in need of some good food, which she is now getting plenty of.

“I know there is a beautiful, loving dog deep inside her that just needs some love and trust to come out,” Kelson said.
