BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Making Bostonians laugh was the task set out for the artificial intelligence (AI) from Chat GPT, and for the most part, the non-human-made jokes landed.

WBZ's Matt Shearer relayed the jokes to residents, one after one. The first of which said "Why did the bicycle in Boston fall over?" followed by the punchline of "it was two-tired."

Some didn't go over as well though, one read "make sure to park your car in a legal spot, or you'll get a ticket from the city," which although true, didn't make for the best joke, residents said.

Some are putting Chat GPT to use to write scripts and essays, but when it came to nailing the Boston lingo, some say the program faltered. When prompted to make friends in Boston, the AI said "Gotta love living in Beantown, best city in the world."

"Now what do I say? That sounds like something a tourist would say. They did an awful job," one resident said.

WBZ's Matt Shearer (@MattWBZ) reports.
