BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With less than a day to go before the 128th running of the Boston Marathon, Kim Law was getting in some last minute steps.

"I did my shakeout run yesterday in the morning, nice and easy, just a few miles, to get the tension out, and I’m going to spend the rest of the day in my hotel room," Law told WBZ NewsRadio Sunday.

The upstate New Yorker was one of tens of thousands attending the weekend marathon expo at the Hynes Convention Center. Runners literally geared up for Monday's big race by picking up their bib numbers, race packets, and t-shirts.

"This is my 11th, I haven’t won one yet but I think that tomorrow could be my day," said Ted from Rhode Island. Like Kim Law, Ted spent part of the day running to prep for the 26.2 mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

"Typically the day before you do a little, you know, 2, 3, 4-mile at most, just to get the legs kinda spinning up and feeling good, and then put the legs up for the rest of the day," Ted said.

Johanna Fernandez from the Dominican Republic could not wipe the smile from her face. Monday will be her sixth marathon and first in Boston.

"Tokyo, Chicago, New York, Berlin, London," Fernandez listed. "So this is it, this is a sixth. I’m getting my star. I’m getting two medals, the World [Marathon] Majors and the Boston Marathon for the first time."

Even though she hails from a tropical climate, Fernandez admitted Monday's sunny forecast was a bit too warm for her liking.

"I do train in hot, but I like my marathons to have air conditioned [sic], so I was expecting it to be a little bit colder, but let’s do it," Fernandez said.
