BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two juveniles were arrested in connection to a shooting that happened earlier in March outside TechBoston Academy in Dorchester.
The shooting on March 15 injured a teacher and student, and on Sunday, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced that two teenage suspects have been arrested. Because the suspects charged are minors, their names were not released.
Police said the first arrest was on Wednesday, as officers located a 17-year-old male from Lynn after a brief foot chase, after which officials recovered a laoded 9mm Glock 19 handgun equipped with a laser sight from the suspect. After his arrest, police said they issued a search warrant at the suspect's residence, finding a .22 caliber handgun equipped with a laser sight there.
The second arrest was on Saturday, as officials said a 16-year-old male from Dorchester surrendered himself to members of the Boston Police Department Youth Violence Strike Force and was placed into custody without incident.
The BPD said that the 17-year-old suspect was arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, 2 counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. The 16-year-old suspect was scheduled to be appear in Suffolk County Juvenile Court on the same charges, police said.
According to police, on the night of the shooting a 17-year-old student and 31-year-old teacher were sent to the hospital after suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds outside TechBoston Academy.

Boston Police said that the two victims were getting ready for an after-school event when shots were fired. Hayden released a statement on the two arrests on Saturday.
"An event like this shakes a school community—and the larger community—to its core. But in talking to students and staff at TechBoston I came away convinced of their strength and resiliency. Now, thanks to superb work by Boston Police, the Office of Safety Services, and prosecutors from my office, they can gather again knowing that those responsible for this reckless act are in custody and will be held accountable. The fact that both defendants are juveniles makes this incident all the more sad and makes us all the more resolved to target the flow of guns onto our streets."
