BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Public Market on Hanover Street bustled with runners and supporters Sunday ahead of the 128th Boston Marathon the next day.

Vendors offered special discounts for marathoners on everything from wooden bowls to carbo-loading pastas, nuts, breads, and sweets.

"We have made specialty marathon cupcakes—chocolate and vanilla with a 26.2 mile marker," one seller told WBZ NewsRadio.

To wash down the tasty treats, Mother Juice offered a special smoothie called the Runner's High.

"It is a smoothie with almond milk, banana, date, maple, lion's mane, blueberry, and mango," a Mother Juice employee said.

Ann was fueling up for her fourth Boston Marathon with the help of several popovers.

"The hardest is trying not to go too fast in the first six miles because it’s pretty much downhill and you’re psyched and you haven’t run in a few days," Ann said. "And you’re excited and the crowd really brings you, so it’s really hard to hold back."

"Our kids bought her a jacket in advance of the marathon, but superstition tells her not to wear it ‘til after the race," Ann's husband added. "So once the race is done, then she wears the swag. She doesn’t wear any of the swag until then."
