Boston Releases Internal Affairs Files Of Former Officer Patrick Rose

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The City of Boston has released the Internal Affairs files of former Boston Police Officer Patrick Rose.

The files show that the Internal Affairs Department found that child sex abuse allegations against Rose were "sustained" in 1996, meaning there was enough evidence to support the allegations.

Rose was on the Boston Police force for decades and served as the Boston Police union's president. The Internal Affairs files said Rose was was removed from active duty, and had his firearm taken away.

But Rose was put back on active duty after lawyers for Boston Police Patrolmen's Association sent Boston Police a letter in 1997, saying they were considering whether to file a grievance over Rose being removed from active duty.

Boston Acting Mayor Kim Janey called the allegations against Rose "disgusting," in a press release, and said it was "deeply unsettling and entirely unacceptable" that Rose was allowed to continue on the force for two decades after the 1995 allegations.
