Boston Woman Killed After Being Hit By Pickup Truck In Abington

ABINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Tuesday night, a woman was killed after being hit by a pickup truck in Abington, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced.

Abington Police said they responded to a call for a pedestrian-truck collision report on Route 18, which upon arrival, officials found a woman in the roadway. She was transported to South Shore Hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries, police said.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Marissa Voller of Boston.

Preliminary investigation showed that Voller may have been in the left travel lane of Rt. 18 prior to being struck, officials said. According to police, the visibility was low and the weather was misty at the time of the incident. Police also said that the male driver of the pickup truck was the one who called 911, and remained on scene following the incident.

Officials said that an investigation has begun within the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the PCDA, Massachusetts State Police Collison Analysis Reconstruction Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and Abington Police.
