WRENTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — When it comes to Botox injections, Louis Costa is no stranger to the procedure.

Costa comes into Karma Advanced Skin Care in Wrentham every few months for maintenance visits, ensuring his skin looks as good as it possibly can.

"I’m a hair stylist, I work in a mirror all day," Costa told WBZ NewsRadio Wednesday. "I like to look rested. I like people to just think I’ve had a great night’s sleep every day, even if I haven’t."

The trend of male Botox injections, otherwise known as "Brotox," has been on the rise the past couple of years. According to Karma owner Kimberly Cohn, her number of male clients getting Botox has more than doubled since the start of the pandemic.

"I’ve heard, my wife keeps coming here and she keeps looking younger, so I’m trying to keep up," Cohn said. "More men are actually talking about it because they’re wives are like, you know it’s okay for you to go get it too, or my friend’s husband gets it. More guys want to feel more confident."

As a stylist, Costa has noticed the growing trend among his own customers as well.

"I have a pretty high male clientele and a lot of these guys will slowly, once you’re cutting their hair, will start to mention, I’m unhappy with these squint lines, or notice things perhaps they haven’t seen before," said Costa.
