BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Bruins will take a seven-game winning streak into Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final Monday night.
But, the Bruins won’t have right wing Chris Wagner, who injured his arm in the clincher in Carolina.
“I wanted to come up here and be like Bill Belichick and say, ‘We’re on to Cincinnati.’ But, right now I’m just kind of hanging out,” Wagner said.
Zdeno Chara will play — his third Stanley Cup Final in nine years. And Boston’s captain isn’t taking that for granted.
“I appreciate them same way as before. It’s not just something that happens every year. You know, for some players it didn’t happen yet, for some others it happened more than for others. But, I think you go to appreciate it because it’s so hard to- I’ve been saying that it’s just so hard in these days just to make playoffs,” Chara said.
Blues leading scorer Jaden Schwartz isn’t satisfied with just reaching the title round.
“Obviously, it’s exciting to be here but there’s a lot more work to do and these are going to be the hardest games we’ve had yet. So, there’s still four more to go and we’re obviously excited for this opportunity and this moment, but we know that the work is not done,” Schwartz said.
The opening game for the Stanley Cup Final begins at 8 p.m. Monday night.
