BRISTOL, Conn. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Canton Little League is one step closer to a berth in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

As the Massachusetts representatives in the New England Regional, Canton defeated Vermont 12-0 on Saturday morning in Bristol, Connecticut.

Canton's starting pitcher Nathan Chabot struck out 15 batters and only allowed one hit throughout the game's six innings.

The team will next face Maine in the regional semi-finals on Monday. Due to the double elimination format of the tournament, Canton is guaranteed to play at least two more games, even if they lose to Maine.

The winner of Canton vs. Maine will face the winner of Vermont vs. New Hampshire in the New England Regional finals on Thursday.
