BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker addressed the attack at two mosques in New Zealand.
“Everything about what happened in New Zealand is a horrific tragedy, everything. And for the Islamic community and the Muslim community in particular, this is clearly just a hate crime directed at them,” Baker said.
The attack left 50 people dead, many other gravely wounded. “I think the most important thing we can do is to make sure that we do whatever can to keep people safe. We have good policies in place with respect to how we deal with issues around guns and that sort of thing. And call this stuff out. Call the hate out. Call the language out. Call all of it out,” Baker said.
Baker spoke at a Friday pray service at the Islamic Society of Boston’s mosque in February and said he will continue to promote inclusions and cooperation with the Islamic community in Massachusetts.
