Closing Arguments Underway For Murder Of Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon

BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Closing arguments are scheduled to take place Tuesday in the trial of Thomas Latanowich, who is accused of killing Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon.

Latanowich is accused of fatally shooting Gannon while he and other officers were serving an arrest warrant at a home in Marstons Mills on April 12, 2018. Gannon’s K-9 partner Nero was also shot but survived. Latanowich was wanted for a parole violation.

When police arrived at the house, they found him hiding in the attic and that's when investigators say he shot at Gannon and Nero.

Testifying Monday, Latanowich said that he feared for his life while hiding in the attic because someone had recently tried to kill him, according to WBZ-TV.

He added he shot the gun into the darkness and had no idea there was a police officer there. Jury deliberation could begin as early as Tuesday, once closing arguments are completed.
