QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Brian Walshe, the Cohasset man accused of killing his wife on New Year's Day and misleading police, appeared for a brief court hearing on Thursday morning.

The conference at Quincy District Court lasted all of three and a half minutes from the time Judge Neil Hourihan entered the courtroom to the end of the hearing. Walshe appeared in an orange jumpsuit over video from the Norfolk County Correctional Center.

The prosecutor said he would likely secure a grand jury indictment of Walshe by mid-to-late March, but asked the judge to push the hearing a month, eventually agreeing to hold another hearing on March 1.

Defense attorney Tracy Miner said state prosecutors are lagging behind on the discovery process. "The basic stuff we should have had immediately, we don't have," she said.

Walshe pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering his wife last month in Quincy District Court. No body was recovered, but prosecutors at his Jan 18 arraignment listed off damning internet searches Walshe allegedly made in the hours of her disappearance, like "Dismemberment and the best ways to dispose of a body."

The Walshes' three children are still in the custody of the state.
