COHASSET, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Driving along near Beechwood Field in Cohasset, you may notice a shack on its lonesome in the woods, and those curious enough to head inside, find nothing but a sweet tooth's dream.

The "Sweet Shack" is an outlet for Mrs.Mekler's Mercantile, a homemade candy shop that offers everything from cookies, pies, syrups, and more, all in one spot. WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe caught with Mrs M. herself, and asked about all the sugary details.

Inside the one-room store, Mrs. Mekler's Mercantile hosts an inventory of jams, English toffee, chocolate covered Oreos, caramels, and assortments called "jarcuteries," to name a few.

"Jarcuteries are basically one bite of everything in a jar — it has Twinkies, Oreos, graham crackers, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered almonds, chocolate covered cashews," Mekler said.

The store also has an honor system, in which customers can pull over grab the goodies they want and pay via Venmo, cash, or check. But the sweets aren't just confined to the Sweet Shack, as Mrs. Mekler's Merchantile sells gift boxes grazing boards, and more with online ordering.

"People come and hit it at all times of the day — and they love it," Mekler said.
